Chakra Special Caves

The room looked beautiful at first, and the staff were polite. Breakfast was good too. But after three nights, we were fed up with the place. The bed was the most uncomfortable I've ever slept in, the stone tub was dirty, and the rug hadn't been vacuumed, so bits of debris stuck to our feet. The shower left the bathroom floor flooded, the faucet wasn't attached to the counter, and the lights were either all on or all off, with no bedside lamp for reading. We could even see daylight around the exterior door, so there was no soundproofing. I wouldn't recommend Chakra Cave Hotels.

Breakfast was served at a different hotel and was very ordinary. The reception was often unattended, so we had to wait, and since the city is 10-15 km from Goreme, getting to see the balloons meant paying for a taxi or transfer. We had booked room 101 and arrived tired at 4:00 pm to find it dark, with all the electricity off. The rooms should have been checked by 2 o'clock, the handover deadline. The photos showed large ceiling lights, but those were all cut off and only hidden lighting worked. The bathroom and sewage smelled bad, and water kept collecting in front of the bathroom. The sewage smell bothered me at night. I'd visited Cappadocia once before, and on a return trip I wouldn't pick this hotel.

We came all the way from Texas, and this hotel was one of the options in our tour package because it had 4.9 stars. The reviews don't seem real to me. The service was terrible, and I wouldn't recommend staying here. The outside doesn't look bad, but the place needs renovation. Our room thermostat was broken, even though it got to 46 degrees or below outside at night. The bathroom door wouldn't stay shut because its latch was broken, and the shower head didn't work, only the small handheld one did. We had a queen size double bed but only a full size blanket to share. At 7:30 pm the kitchen was already closed, so we couldn't order dinner or go eat, and they had no microwave for heating our leftovers. There also aren't any food places or restaurants within 0.5-1 miles.

The room was huge, cave-like, and had a jacuzzi with massage and candles that made it feel romantic. Breakfast was generous and delicious, and they could adjust it to suit your preferences, which was a nice touch. The staff were kind and helpful, and worked with a few small requests we had. From outside, the hotel looks like a beautiful castle with caves. Everything was so clean and seemed freshly installed before we arrived. One of my best hotel holidays, and I'd happily return.
