Loopy Lodge Hotel

The staff were pleasant, but the hotel needs a refurbishment and I wouldn’t stay here again. The room felt dated and shabby, with old-fashioned brightly coloured bed linen instead of plain white. The en-suite wet room was awkward too: shower water spread across the floor toward the drain, and the shower head wouldn’t stay in its holder. It was about a 20-minute walk to the shops and restaurants.

Breakfast was good, and it was the best spot for Wi-Fi, which was otherwise pretty poor. The rest of my two-night stay was disappointing, even for a budget hotel. There was a strong tobacco smell in the lobby, and the bedroom areas were sparse and poorly soundproofed, a problem with the busy road right outside. The bathroom was very cramped: the door hit the sink, and the seal under the shower leaked onto the floor. My room wasn’t serviced during either night. I found only two outlets, both inconveniently placed and neither looking very safe. There’s no lift, so expect to carry your case up the stairs.

The rooms are cute and small, and the hotel is close to the city. The employees and owners were great, and the pet cats were adorable. Wi-Fi in the rooms sometimes didn’t work, though it was perfect in the lobby.

We stayed here through the Erasmus programme, and our time at the hotel made us love the place and city even more. The location is great, and it’s very clean, thanks to the lady who does a really good job looking after it. The hosts are so friendly and kind. Whenever we ran into a problem, they sorted it out, and we’re very grateful. Great service and a great price. Thank you so much!
