The room change was appreciated, and the staff did try to sort things out. Still, the stay didn’t come close to the luxury experience I expected for the price. My first room was dirty, faced an unpleasant backyard, and had its pillows and bedcover left on a chair. There wasn’t even a kettle or tea cups, and the room safe didn’t work. Shower and bath water pressure was especially weak at night. The corridors and waiting areas were far too hot, and the lighting across the hotel was dim and seemed faulty. Breakfast had little variety, and the restaurant food was average at best and overpriced. The Wi-Fi was mostly okay, though it stopped working entirely one night. Getting around takes planning. The hotel is about 45 minutes from the airport and 30 minutes from the nearest shopping center. The sundeck has a nice view but isn’t very large. The beach is a three-minute buggy ride away, but after 6 pm it can be hard to find one back. I once waited over an hour at the beach for a buggy. Another time, after three hours relaxing on the marina sundeck, my slippers had disappeared. It is remote, so it could suit someone wanting a few quiet days away. But with so many basic issues despite the hotel being nearly empty, the experience fell well short of what its luxury claims and prices led me to expect.

The hotel itself and its location are lovely, and I enjoyed our visits there. We stayed without any problems on either side, caused no damage, and behaved appropriately. I still think people can enjoy this hotel and would recommend it, but anyone asking about buying a residence unit should be aware of my experience. We asked about purchasing one in 2009. I spoke by phone with someone I believe was the owner of the hotel property, then chose to buy elsewhere. After that, the residence section stopped accepting our reservations, as far as I could tell. We called several times over the years and got no call back. When I eventually asked directly whether I had been blacklisted, I was told that was impossible and that they would check and call in 15 minutes. No one followed up. I’m not writing to get a response or to have the hotel remove me from any list. I assume Kempinski would audit the property and its blacklist. Maybe someone entered something false under my name, since they couldn’t write what actually happened, or perhaps the hotel does have a hidden blacklist. I just want interested people to know, so my name isn’t flagged over a possibly false, defamatory accusation. I haven’t been able to visit since 2009. The residence section is separate from the hotel rooms, and we can visit the hotel with a Kempinski booking. Under these circumstances, though, I’d hesitate to book. Just be careful if you inquire about buying a property.

The beach is the standout for me: clear water and such good service that it made the holiday memorable. The pool is huge, unusually designed, and has a view worth seeing. Dining was great too, especially the Italian restaurant and Villa Rossa. Breakfast was full of flavor and had plenty of choices for a traditional Turkish spread. The staff were so friendly and always ready to help. Our room was spotless, beautifully decorated, and had an unforgettable balcony view. Kempinski Barbaros Bay is one of the best hotels in the Kempinski chain. I’d absolutely recommend experiencing it.

The thoughtful care continued right through checkout. My flight was at 6 a.m., and the staff made sure I didn’t leave without breakfast by preparing a lovely, delicious lunch box for me. Those little gestures really stay with you. I also want to thank the whole team and Mr. Mevlut, the hotel manager. His personal attention and reassuring, graceful presence made a real difference, and his commitment to guests’ satisfaction showed a high level of hospitality and professionalism. From arrival, everyone welcomed me warmly and professionally. The Bodrum bay views are stunning, and the elegant design balances comfort with luxury. The rooms are spacious and beautifully furnished, while the atmosphere feels calm and refined. Kempinski Hotel Bodrum exceeded my expectations, and I wholeheartedly recommend it for a serene escape with genuine care and exceptional service.

After I posted this, management took time to meet with me and listen. They told me about planned renovations and service changes that address many of the things I raised. I felt they genuinely cared about improving my experience and hearing my feedback. They also made a generous goodwill gesture during our stay to put things right, which I appreciate. Thank you. We had a nice week in Bodrum. The staff were very friendly, and we liked the pool and its area. At 30-40% less, as a four-star hotel, I’d have had few complaints. But we spent more than the average annual salary in Türkiye on accommodation and food for six nights, and the quality didn’t feel worth that price. Our upgraded Grand Deluxe King room had a great ocean view and balcony, and nothing was wrong with it, but at 580 GBP a night it felt small and less luxurious than its name and price suggested. Food choices were limited. Three restaurants served dinner and another was open for lunch, but the small menus got repetitive quickly, especially with one vegetarian in our group. A two-course dinner with wine could cost 200 EUR for two adults and a child ordering from the reasonably priced kids menu. I’d pay that for spectacular food, but it only matched the price once, maybe. For better value and quality, a taxi to Bodrum takes 30 minutes and costs 15 GBP or less each way. A good restaurant there could cost 30-50% less, including the taxi. There’s a spa, gym, great pool, and beach water sports center, but I didn’t find other activities or evening entertainment. We arranged our own plans, though I expect more options at this price level. The hotel’s chilled atmosphere was nice, but the premium price didn’t come with a five-star feeling. Small problems added up. Breakfast ran out of spoons every other day, coffee arrived without sugar until I called the waiter back, and the bedtime chocolates came as two for three of us. Some facilities felt a bit dated, spa showers weren’t working, and one restaurant had closed permanently. A sanitary item in the hotel shop cost about six times the usual price, which felt unnecessary. None of this ruined our stay, but it didn’t feel premium; I was more often disappointed than impressed, and wouldn’t book again.
