Bombien Yalıkavak

The only thing I liked was the location. The conditions were awful for what we paid, and the staff seemed more focused on getting extra money than making guests comfortable. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. We booked two rooms and initially selected the deluxe double room. On arrival, there was mould across the bathroom and walls, with an overpowering smell. The room felt uninhabitable, especially as I have asthma and my friend has allergies. We raised it immediately, but the hotel wouldn’t refund us. Instead, they offered an upgrade for an extra 25,000 Turkish Liras for one room. Expedia didn’t help much either, and the eventual outcome was a reduced upgrade charge, so we still had to pay another 16,000 Liras for a different room that also fell short of expectations. The rest of the hotel was dirty and untidy too. Dust and grime covered the bathroom and wardrobe, and the bed linen was uncomfortable and seemed unclean. Rooms weren’t cleaned unless we specifically asked. Even then, the towels smelled musty, as if they hadn’t been washed. We were desperate enough to ask for supplies to clean ourselves, but were given only bleach and told there were no sponges. For a family-run hotel, basic cleanliness and customer service should be expected. Both were seriously lacking here. It was an extreme disappointment for the high price.

Great location and view, and the weather was lovely, but I wouldn’t stay here again. The price didn’t match the service. The staff were okay, though only the young woman on reception at night seemed to have much customer service experience. Others mostly sat on their phones. The pool and bar weren’t operating. We stayed in late March, when the hotel seemed empty and we may have been the only guests. My reserved room was nice, but they offered a so-called deluxe room for about 2K TRY more, saying breakfast was included. We later found there was no WiFi in the rooms, only around reception. A young man who seemed connected to the owner but didn’t know much said it was being repaired after overload from the previous season. The card terminal supposedly wasn’t working, so I had to go to an ATM in Yalikavak and withdraw cash, with foreign ATM and currency conversion fees. The included breakfast wasn’t on the premises either, but at a cozy traditional place nearby that served only Turkish breakfast. The staff there were nice. When I asked why breakfast wasn’t at the hotel, the young man, who seemed to be a manager, said the chef was on vacation or at another location. I also asked if they could include the minibar to make up for the lack of room WiFi, but he insisted it cost extra. The hotel’s interior was nice and it seemed to have just opened for the season. The minimalist bathroom had poor drainage, which caused water to overflow, and there was a strange smell. The wet tile floor nearly made me slip and fall.

I’ll remember Bombien Hotel for the beautiful views, delicious food, and calm, peaceful atmosphere. Service was high quality from the moment I arrived until I finished my stay. The staff made me feel welcome like family and were incredibly accommodating. Ismail & Bekir bey went above and beyond with their service and private transportation. The hotel is new, but the rooms are only basically equipped. There’s no WiFi except in the small reception area at the entrance, which is hard to understand for a place that calls itself a luxury hotel. There’s no restaurant, and only one person speaks English, but she isn’t around at night. Overall, I was very disappointed.
