The room smelled strongly of smoke, and opening the windows didn’t clear it. It was hard to sleep with that odor. The facilities need a full upgrade, especially the carpet and furniture. The toilet also wasn’t properly cleaned, with pea-sized drops still on the floor.

The location is the hotel’s best feature, but the room and bathroom were dirty. The air conditioner seemed not to work at all. Our key wouldn’t open the room, so I had to go back to reception and complain before getting another one. I don’t understand why this hotel has a five-star rating. If I’m in the area again, I won’t stay here.

The Wi-Fi setup was confusing because each room had its own network. The meals were the bigger letdown: dinner and breakfast had almost no variety and were the worst. Also, our room stayed too hot in March because the heater was left on.

During our 10-day stay with the U16 Australian team, the staff at Anemon Hotel were fantastic. They helped with our meeting rooms, laundry, and all the requests we had at mealtimes. Aykut at reception was especially friendly and took care of a lot of things for us. We’re really grateful.

As the South African U16 water polo national team, we were looked after wonderfully from arrival and check-in. Aykut, one of the front desk managers, was friendly and helpful, and handled anything we brought up with a smile.
