Palms Hotel Trinidad

The stay felt uncomfortable from the start. At 2 AM, staff knocked just to check that there were only two of us in the room. I also overheard staff gossiping about guests and whispering secrets in front of us, which felt unwelcoming and unprofessional. The first room had a dirty shower and broken air conditioning. We were moved, but the wardrobe in the new room was moldy, and I spent the stay sneezing and coughing. Check-in was exhausting, with too many forms and copies of both guests’ ID cards required. There were no phones or microwaves in the rooms; the little lobby microwave was too small for a plate. I felt locals were treated poorly while foreigners got better service. This was one of my worst hotel experiences, and I wouldn’t recommend The Palms Hotel for a comfortable, respectful stay.

The receptionist was really friendly and accommodating, and it’s about 10-15 minutes from the airport. The bathroom could use a bit more cleaning.

The pool and dining area were clean and nice, and the person at the front desk was friendly. But nothing was being served while my friends and I were there, so we had to leave to buy food and come back. Getting food took a while, cutting into the five hours we had for the pool. I’d rate the experience 7.5/10. If food were available earlier, around 12-3, I might put it closer to 9/10.

At least I got a great photo of the sky. We’d switched plans at the last minute and came with my family for a day pass to celebrate my sister’s birthday, so we made the best of it. We weren’t allowed to eat the food we brought by the pool, which I understand is their rule, but the menu prices seemed ridiculous. Steak fries were listed at $35, yet the price was $60. Something seemed off, and that food didn’t feel worth the cost when places like Mini Bar or Jaxx are much more affordable.
