Mount Irvine Bay Resort

The staff handled every request quickly and were very helpful, and the price we paid was quite reasonable. Our room had two queen beds, a fridge, safe, free tea and coffee, lots of wardrobe space, and a big balcony looking out over the green vegetation and sea. The pool was large, and they provided pool towels. Breakfast was substantial, with made-to-order omelettes, bacon, pancakes, swordfish, French toast, croissants, muffins, fresh fruit, sausage, three kinds of juice, tea, and coffee. They also offered an airport shuttle for the same price the airport taxis charged. The place has plenty of potential for weddings, parties, and similar events.

The planned experiences were next level, from the glass bottom boat tour and welcome party to the beach wedding. Marcel made everyone feel so welcome, like Mt. Irvine was home, and the staff were wonderfully friendly and accommodating. The breakfast buffet was delicious, especially the omelette made by the terrific chef. We came for a wedding and all the personal touches made it an unforgettable, once in a lifetime experience. If I were planning a wedding, I'd copy every detail. Mt. Irvine Bay Resort went above and beyond. Thank you for the gracious hospitality, we won't forget it.

The view from our room briefly distracted me from what a disaster this hotel was. It doesn't deserve a star. We paid for early check-in and were told breakfast would be included on our first day. Instead, we were politely told to go find breakfast somewhere else. We arrived early, tired and hungry, and had to head out to forage. When we raised the issue, customer service was cold, unhelpful, and seemed annoyed we were there. The so-called Operations Manager spoke down to us and brushed us off as if we were a nuisance. The title suggests leadership and competence, but it felt more honorary than earned. This place seems to think hospitality means guests should apologize for booking. The rooms were decent, but the hallways were pitch black at night. Walking to the stairs felt like a scene from a cheap horror movie. The online pictures make it look as though the ocean is right at the hotel steps. In reality, it took a 7-minute walk to reach the water. I'm from Florida and know a beachfront when I see one. This felt like false advertising with a suntan. Mt. Irvine, retrain the staff, replace your “manager,” and stop promising things you can't deliver. Guests shouldn't have to fight for basic service or dignity. We wanted an escape and got an exercise in lowered expectations.

We had a lovely stay. The resort was quiet, with few guests, so the pool felt almost private and the beach wasn't crowded. The food was okay, and it was nice to have breakfast included. We had a problem with our room, but it was fixed quickly. Good spot for surfing and snorkeling.
