Chu Yuan Hotel

The owner was easy to talk to and kept tea-making supplies available all day. We wanted to sample more Alishan teas, so he opened three additional types for us to try. After our night there, four of us headed out at 5 am for sunrise at Tea Road Trail. Watching the sun come up over a tea garden was so refreshing. We walked back at 7:30, just as the self-serve breakfast was available, and I loved the traditional Taiwanese spread of congee and stir-fried dishes. A friend's mom recommended the place as soon as she heard I was going to Alishan with friends. She called a month ahead and specifically requested Starry Sky Room. We paid a deposit and were told dinner and breakfast were included. The owner called on the day to remind us dinner started at 6 pm. We arrived around sunset, with a lovely view that we could also see from our room on the third floor. The rooms seemed newly renovated, with gorgeous views for sunset and stars. There were several Mahjong tables on the first floor. Dinner was typical Taiwanese food that we all enjoyed, including my Taiwanese parents, and they started karaoke toward the end of the meal. I'd definitely return and recommend staying here.

Alishan is a beautiful place where the tea comes from. A very good recommendation.
