The owners were friendly, and the place was spotless, bathroom included. There’s a roomy common area with chairs and cooking gear, and the location is right in the center. I’m not keen on sharing a room, but everything else in the village seemed closed and it was getting late, so I took a bed in the four-person dorm. The room was cramped and the mattress was very hard.

A handy, cheap place to stop while cycling around Taiwan, with a nice feel and a couple of cute cats wandering about. You can park bikes out back. The shower and bathrooms are quite small, and the bed was just about long enough for me at six feet. Someone I met had to let his feet poke through the slats at the end :D

The restaurant and supermarket are close by, and the hostel sits a little off the main road. I ended up here while cycling around Taiwan after the wind made camping too uncomfortable. It’s a pretty standard place. My four-bed dorm was smaller than I’d expected; with just one other person it was fine, though I can imagine it getting packed when full. The floor also had quite a bit of hair on it, maybe left by someone using the dryer, so it didn’t seem to have been cleaned properly.

We had a good vibe in the courtyard, where we drank beers and used the ice machine to keep them cold. The owner is friendly, and it’s easy to meet other people biking around Taiwan. The atmosphere probably depends on who happens to be staying there, though.
