View Mountain B&B

WARNING: DO NOT GO. The TV was broken, the facilities were falling apart, the AC had problems, and the furniture was old and worn out. The owner greeted me without pants on.

I chose the guesthouse for its unusual building materials 👍, and the price does reflect the quality, so it may suit travelers on a budget. The room was small, though, and the facilities felt old and worn. Water was only around 40 degrees Celsius, cooled quickly, and came out with a very weak flow. You had to shower in the tub before filling it with hot spring water, which could be an issue with young children. It’s meant to offer mountain views and hot springs, but you need to keep the curtains closed to avoid being exposed. The extra bed was just a flat mattress. Luckily it wasn’t very cold when I stayed, because sleeping on the stone floor would have been impossible.

The owner was easygoing and friendly, and gave clear instructions for turning the hot water on and off so it would stay warm. The rooms and bathrooms were clean and had no odor. The one layout issue was the placement of the bed, chairs, dressing table, and TV, which could make it easier to move around. The white villa has a garden and parking, and the rooms have small balconies. Mine had a clean hot spring tub and big windows beside the bed, with a wide view of blue sky and clouds. I stayed during hot spring season in Sichongxi, and choosing Mountain View B&B made for a really relaxing visit.

We paid 2800 yuan for the night, but after dinner I came back hoping to use the hot spring tub and found no water at all. I called, and they said many guests were using it and the flow couldn’t keep up. After waiting an hour, I called again. I could see other guests showering, though they couldn’t take baths and had to turn the water on manually. The owner later called to say it was usable, but it only trickled like a leak. How long was I supposed to wait for a tub to fill? I have video evidence. I was so frustrated that I just wanted to sleep. Then, when I went to brush my teeth, I found the sink completely dry. It was still dry in the morning. I had no water to brush my teeth or wash my face, so I used ice water from the fridge, pouring it into our own plastic drink bottles. When the food delivery came the next morning, I complained about all of it. The holiday was ruined. The next day, all I received was an apology and a 200 NTD refund.
