Lan Kwai Fong Garden Hotel

We had a very good stay for 3 days and 2 nights. The staff were kind and helpful, and stepped in when they saw my wife, who uses a wheelchair. The rooms and amenities matched the photos, and the coffee and snacks in the room tasted really good. The hotel cleaning girl did a good job each morning.

There’s no parking at the hotel, but we had a pleasant three-night stay and would come back to Chiayi. The bed was comfortable, and after a long day the bathtub was great for a soak. The hotel is right beside a night market, with lots of eateries nearby. Laundry is in B1, with 2 washers and 2 dryers. Each wash costs NT$40, and you can ask the front desk for detergent.

The hotel sits beside a busy night market street, with plenty of street food, shops, and massage places. The road closes to traffic for the market, so I felt safe shopping there. It looked new from outside, and my tour driver recommended it. My room was small, but the amenities were new and adequate. HBO on the TV was a plus, as were the bathtub and free wifi. Late at night, a bad smell came into the room. I think it was sewage, though I don’t know how it got in. I was too tired to ask the hotel and just tried to sleep through it. The odor was strong enough to wake me a couple of times, and I sprayed perfume to make it more bearable. The international buffet breakfast had a decent variety, but the food was cold or at least not warm. Pretty much what you’d expect at a 3/4 stars hotel.

The room was comfortable and quiet, and I liked having a smart speaker in it. The location is handy too, with the night market down the street and lots of shops and restaurants close by.
