Cave Hostel

Breakfast was great, with an impressive table setup, and the fresh eggs, fruit, and smoothie were delicious. The staff were helpful, and the bathrooms had enough room, good sinks, and mirrors. My dorm room was small, but the changing room was useful. I liked having a comfortable double bed that didn’t get too hot. We were locked out twice because the key card failed. One of those times we were rushing to get to taroko gorge, so the delay was disappointing. It costs 10$ to lock the bedroom safe, which is annoying. The indoor slippers were also strange and too big, and I struggled on the stairs wearing them.

Remember to return your card when checking out, or you’ll be charged 200 for losing it. The prices are decent, and the place is super clean and hygienic. Bring your own toiletries. It’s ideal for backpackers, and the friendly lady made amazing pasta. Highly recommend.

The beds were comfortable, but the lockers were awkward when trying to get things out, and the thin partitions between beds meant I could hear everything my neighbor did. The bathrooms were dirty, and if your room is next to them, you’ll hear the showers and hair dryers. Bring shower shoes. Breakfast was just toast with cherry or strawberry jelly, and it wasn’t good at all. There weren’t many foreigners staying here, and people weren’t very friendly. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

The hostel is about a 25 minute walk from the Main Station, so the location isn’t the best. But the quality is very good, and the bed and pillow were both really comfortable. I paid 8€ for one night, and it’s been one of the best hostels I’ve stayed in so far. Breakfast was a buffet with eggs, vegetables, some cheese, and toast, plus free coffee and tea. For that price, I’d give it more than five stars.
