East Coast Hotel

We liked having a restaurant right next door, plus a convenience store nearby, and the hotel lends bikes for free to explore the city. The staff were friendly and did their best to help despite the language barrier. Our family room was spacious and affordable, with a soft mattress. The breakfast buffet had some Western food, though the selection was limited and it didn’t taste very good.

There was loads of room for the six of us this time.

Taroko Park was closed the day I planned to visit, so I waited in the lobby for my evening train. The lovely staff brought me drinks and did what they could to make the wait pleasant. The room was large, and the location is very central. Everyone was friendly and helpful.

It’s a nice-looking hotel, but for the high price of a single double room, we ran into too many problems. The carpet was really dirty, the bathroom had mold, and the facilities didn’t work properly. There was no English support. They also didn’t tell us in advance that breakfast the next day wouldn’t be included because of some circumstances. If we’d known all this, we wouldn’t have stayed at such a high price.
