Hotel Bayview

The service made a strong impression on us. We arrived by train, and the hotel can arrange free pickups from the station or airport if you book ahead. The driver and staff gave us useful tips on sightseeing and places to eat. The front desk was staffed around the clock, and as far as I could tell there was no curfew, so coming back late wasn't a problem. Our beach-view room had no balcony. It was a standard size for Asia, so it may feel a bit small to some foreigners. Families wanting lots of room for kids might prefer one of the area's B&Bs. Ours was updated, with plenty of outlets and nice bathroom amenities. The hair dryer worked well, and the climate controls included a dehumidifier, AC, and heating. During a cold snap, staff brought us extra duvets and fleece blankets. There was free bottled water in the room, and refill stations in the coffee bar and dining hall. Breakfast was complimentary, really good, and had slightly different dishes each day. The 24-hour self-serve coffee bar also had snacks, books, magazines, and board games. Free bicycle rental is available for riding along the oceanfront, though bikes aren't available in rainy or windy weather. Guests are asked to keep them off city roads and return them before dark. The ocean view would have been a great spot for the sunrise the area is known for, if the weather hadn't been cloudy during our stay. There's plenty of parking reserved for Bayview Hotel guests, just remember to register your license plate at the front desk. Street cats often visit the entrance, though they don't come into the building, a nice extra for cat lovers 😻
