The breakfast buffet had a generous spread with varied options. The rooms are dated, but there was hot water in the showers and the pressure was good. Staff were helpful with check-in and showed us a lower-level place to keep our bikes. It’s within walking distance behind Hualien distance.

The room still had leftover food in the minibar from the previous guests, and it smelled. The bathroom lights were too dim to see clearly. There was also an odd odor in the hallway. We switched rooms, but found a drink on the floor and some floor pieces had come loose. The server was pleasant, but the rooms weren’t clean enough. Service was garbage: after we reported the problems, it took half an hour just to get a response. It even made me wonder whether they had written all the earlier comments themselves.

There’s a decent breakfast spread, and it’s a short walk from Hualien train station, on the tear exit side. It’s a good deal in the warmer months.

Cheap and cheerful, with nothing to complain about.
