The Silence Manor

We booked through Expedia and hadn't expected either a light dinner or breakfast to be included. There was also an afternoon coffee session where we ground the beans and did a pour-over, plus a nighttime bonfire with marshmallows to toast. The grounds were immaculate, with a small pool and fish pond. Our room had a private outdoor bath fed by the natural spring, and both the bed and bathroom felt luxurious. The guy at the front desk was wonderfully hospitable. Despite the rather horror-movie-sounding name, this hot springs hotel offered great service, quality, and value.

What a beautiful place. The camping side is lovely and peaceful, and they provide free bikes, snacks, coffee, tea, and plenty for a good stay. They have hot springs too.

The surroundings are beautiful, the room is comfortable, and you can enjoy the hot spring. Soundproofing was the one small drawback; it wasn't ideal.

The place itself is lovely, and the service was great. I arrived by bike hoping to get dinner, but meals need to be reserved 24 hours ahead. Since dinner wasn't an option, they booked me a taxi into town for free so I could get food. I wish the differences between the tent area and hotel had been explained more clearly. The price gap was only $8, and the tent looked more fun, so I assumed it came with the same perks. But hot spring baths aren't included with a tent booking. There's no public spring bath like I thought; hotel rooms include a private tub, while I paid about $15 to use the private one on the roof. It was incredible and worth the money, but I wish I'd known beforehand. Both options mention continental breakfast, but for tents it's a takeaway bag with a sandwich. I started eating in the dining area, then staff told me that space was for hotel guests and I had to eat outside in the tent area. People in hotel rooms got a proper breakfast in the dining area, while I had to take my bag away from the hotel to eat. For just an $8 difference, that felt wild. I wanted other people to know, because I wish I'd booked a regular hotel room here. I highly recommend the place, but only the hotel rooms.
