I had a private room that was pretty nice and very quiet, with a cold air conditioner and a fan as well. The room and bathroom were clean, and for the price the quality was amazing, though there were a few small paint cracks and blemishes on the ceiling. The owner was super nice and helpful, gave us watermelon, and helped plan hikes while we relaxed in the first-floor lounge. You can also learn a little about Taiwan’s aboriginal tribes here. It really feels like a ‘world inn’, with guests from dozens and dozens of countries and worldly themes throughout the rooms and hostel. One small thing they could improve: give guests a front door code when they book, as I’ve experienced elsewhere. Since the cafe isn’t always open, if you arrive early to store bags, use the bathroom, or anything else, you have to message or call the owner and wait outside while she opens the door remotely.

I had a street-facing room, but it was still amazingly quiet, and the beds were really comfy. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the place was clean. The electronic lock means there are no keys to forget. They give you maps with food and drink tips, plus nice bike routes and hikes. There’s a relaxed multinational, multicultural vibe and a coffee shop in the house. Just go there, by my honor.

This was my favorite hostel in Taiwan. It’s just a 5 min walk from the train station, so really convenient for backpackers, and it felt more social than other hostels, which made the stay memorable. The staff were lovely and happy to recommend their favorite local foods and things to do. Special thanks to Xiaohei at the front desk and the two wonderful volunteers, Savannah and Lea!

For such an affordable price, I had a lovely stay in hualian 🥰 The hosts were friendly and helpful, just as other guests said, and my room and the showers were really clean and neat. I enjoyed it a lot. The car rental next door was affordable too.
