The high ceilings surprised me on my first day, and the whole place feels comfortable. It’s a wonderful guesthouse, and I’d encourage people to give it a try. One question for the owner: do you know the brand of the pillows? They were just the right firmness and so comfortable. I’d love to know what they are.

Great for getting friends or family together, including trips with kids. 7.2m Homestay has karaoke gear with really good sound and a current song selection, so you can sing along. There’s also an electric mahjong table, which makes it easy to get a game going without spending time shuffling.

We were the only guests that day, so it was wonderfully quiet throughout the guesthouse. There are claw machines on both the first and second floors, a piano, and loads of books. The landlady was very kind and gave us menus for good local restaurants and nearby attractions. They also provide bicycles for an evening ride. Keishuin Temple is close by, too, a historic place with a very Japanese feel that’s well worth seeing.

The shower was the highlight for me: great pressure and properly hot water made it such a pleasure. The room was clean and roomy, with plenty of amenities, and felt like very good value. The host was helpful with suggestions for places to eat and things to see. I’d happily recommend it to friends. 👍🏼
