Cypress House

I arrived earlier than the usual check-in time and the helpful staff let me in early, upgrading me to a room at no extra cost. I had a day trip planned, so they arranged breakfast for the earliest time that suited me, even though nobody else was eating that early. The location is good. In the heat of summer there were lots of insects, though, and somehow they went unnoticed in the room while still managing to give very vicious bites.

The breakfast is simple but tasty. You can choose rice porridge with lots of little side dishes, or toast with peanut butter, jam, Nutella, or butter. In the lobby there are handmade carved wooden goods for sale, though they seem pricey. The bathrooms feel quite luxurious, with a tub big enough for a proper soak. The faucets are a bit all-or-nothing, either no water or a huge blast. Between rooms, the sound buffer could be better. Still, it's a serene, tasteful, clean, and comfortable stay. I'd come again!

We ordered the vegetarian breakfasts, and they were delicious. It's a lovely space for family and friends to get together. The place is really comfy and smells great, and I loved having cats around too 😊

I stay here whenever I come to Hualien. The room is excellent, breakfast is delicious, and all the staff are so friendly. We're friends with the boss and his wife now.
