The location was quiet, a few kilometres from downtown, and the staff were helpful with our late check-in. We had a large room with a separate shower room and a very comfortable double bed, with a fluffy, puffy duvet that made for a good night's sleep. The balcony was large, with a mountain view beyond the neighboring buildings. We didn't choose the breakfast option.

There were bed bugs in my bed, which really spoiled the stay. The owners and staff seemed accommodating at first, but when they offered options, there was only one, the one that suited the homestay.

Room 302 felt wonderfully spacious and cozy, much bigger than the photos suggest. I loved the breathtaking morning view from the window, and all the thoughtful touches: a separate wet and dry area, a bidet, a balcony with double glazing for soundproofing. The lobby reflects the owner's hiking, cycling, and trekking experiences, and his varied lifestyle is fascinating. For under NT$2,000 a night over the long holiday, breakfast included, it was excellent value. There's a large courtyard and plenty of parking, and downtown Hualien is only a 10-minute drive away. I'd love to stay again!
