Little Nook B&B

(Japanese tourists, taking a walk in Ji'an in late May) We asked ahead for bicycles, and they were all set for us on the day. The hostess and her daughter were both cheerful and friendly.

Coming back would be an easy decision if I get the chance. The hostess was lovely and even switched on the AC before I arrived because she knew I’d had a hard time cycling around the island. The service was impeccable. 👍 The room was ready and clean, decorated simply but beautifully. Even from the arcade, the place felt warm and tidy. Full stars from me!

The reviews on Booking.com were very high, and the price seemed reasonable for a place not far from the city. There wasn’t dedicated parking, but finding a spot nearby was easy. I arrived excited, then felt a bit let down: the guesthouse seemed long-established and some facilities were dated. Still, it was spotless, and the furnishings had clearly been looked after with care. The shoes are kept outside in an open rack, while indoor slippers are shared. During the pandemic, that arrangement made me a little uneasy.

We first spent one night here on our honeymoon trip through Hualien and Taitung, more than two years ago. This time we came as a family for four days and three nights, and ended up staying three nights. My husband, my pregnant baby, my mother, and my mother-in-law were with me. Having the whole guesthouse to ourselves made it feel like home. The owner was thoughtful throughout, and the place was clean, with a well-equipped kitchen and lots of details handled just right. Parking was convenient too. We’ll come back as a family once our child is born and a little older. ❤️
