The lady was so lovely, cooked us a tasty breakfast, and shared plenty of local knowledge. Tangyuan, the turtle, is cute too. It was a great time, and I’d highly recommend staying here if you want to experience the old way of living in Kinmen. This well-preserved Fujian-style house has WiFi, air-conditioning, lots of hot water, a clean room, and a comfy bed. Thank you!

We stayed in house number 65, Pearl B&B, in Shanhou Folk Culture Village, and it was an honor to sleep in one of Kinmen Island’s well-preserved, restored traditional houses. I had the front room with a queen bed and shared bathroom; it had A/C, clean linens, and a towel. Ask about the room in number 67 if you want a private bath. The owner was accommodating, though her English was limited, so I’d get questions answered by email before arriving. Courtyards had plants, tables, and chairs, and there was a pet rabbit living there. Breakfast was continental-style, with great coffee and homemade flower-petal jam. Walk around the village in the morning before the tourist buses arrive around 9 am. The ocean is a short walk away, and the Taiwan Tourist Bus (C route) stops right out front. It’s a beautiful area in Kinmen National Park.

I stayed in this unique traditional Chinese house guesthouse on August 22nd. The landlady was friendly, and I highly recommend her!

We came back to the same place for a family trip from July 26-28, 2014, and had lunch here too. We’ve visited many times before. The notes say days 2-5 were spent returning to the same place, though the trip is described as three days and two nights. The year before, we were in Kinmen for four days and three nights, from March 29-31, 2014 plus April 1, 2014.

On my second trip to Kinmen, Shanhou Folk Village impressed me so much that I decided I wanted to stay in a traditional Minnan-style building. This was my third visit, and the stay made for a memorable way to get a feel for Kinmen’s culture and charm through its antique architecture. The landlady is very talkative and happy to chat about Kinmen and the guesthouse animals, including turtles, rabbits, and cats. We stayed three days, and breakfast was different each morning, which was so thoughtful. Thanks, landlady! Next time I definitely want to go see the glutinous rice balls.
