I Hi Sanduo Hotel

A good budget option if you want a comfortable bed, a nice shower, and a TV. The room was quiet and clean, with the basics covered, plus a small refrigerator for cold drinks from a nearby convenience store. There are plenty of department stores and night markets around, and the price was great.

The room was roomy, and it had a bathtub. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the outlets included USB ports, though they weren't powerful enough to charge two devices well. The mattress is firm, which you'll like if that's your preference. The different floor levels in the room and bathroom felt like a safety hazard and could have been handled better. Also, the window couldn't close fully because of the air conditioning pipes, so the room wasn't very energy efficient.

I spent 11 nights in Kaohsiung at Karo Hotel/Linsen Suite. The room was very comfortable, and the staff were happy to help. Breakfast was included in the price, but I chose to try the nearby breakfast restaurants instead.

The room was okay, but the staff were stubborn and uncooperative. I was in Kaohsiung for a tournament and needed to drop my luggage and leave in a hurry before checking in. Check-in was apparently at 3 p.m., and it took me more than 20 minutes to persuade them to let me check in early.
