The stay was okay, and the hotel left a small welcome gift and free instant noodles in the room. Staff did their jobs when I asked, but I never saw even one smile. They seemed annoyed whenever we asked a general question or requested room service, as if we'd be easier to deal with if we just handed over money and left them alone. Still, the place feels like a three-star hotel at best, not four. The room and furniture were dated, with cracks in the walls and ceiling, and the sink faucet was rusty. The room was dim, especially the bathroom. The elevators and room doors were very small. They don't clean automatically unless you request it, and they don't provide toothbrushes or toothpaste, which I guess is normal for most hotels in Taiwan. For me, the aesthetics, cleanliness, and amenities all fit a three-star rating.

Clean and quiet, and really good. You can mirror your phone to the TV to play music. Honestly, not sure what more you'd ask for.

The staff were friendly and well informed, and they spoke English well. Breakfast tasted good and worked well for lacto-vegetarians, too. The decor was lovely, the furniture comfortable, and the amenities easy to use. It's about a 20 minute walk to Gushan Ferry point, and public transport is easy to reach.

Pier 2 Art Center and Liouhe night market are both within walking distance, which is a great location. The room was clean, but the tiny window sits about five feet above the ground, so you can barely see out unless you stand on the couch. The fridge didn't work, and figuring out the lights was a guessing game with three sets of switches. Customer service was terrible. The staff I dealt with were overwhelmingly rude. They wouldn't even let me get coffee in the lobby before 10 am without buying a breakfast voucher, and the voucher isn't worth it when there are so many little restaurants nearby with better breakfast. The stay was acceptable, but I wouldn't return.

The breakfast was very good, with items varying by the day, such as fries and nuggets or spaghetti. My family room also came with free instant noodles, and it was generally very clean. The hotel isn't too far from the station, though bringing luggage there is a problem. For me, it's a five out of five.
