Uno Backpackers Inn

I booked at the last minute and there were no beds left in the female dorm, just the mixed one. It turned out fine, though. I felt safe and had privacy, and nobody disturbed me. Some days it seemed like I had the whole six-bed dorm to myself 😂. The shared living room and kitchen were a highlight. I worked there every night, with strong Wi-Fi and separate desks. Facilities were clean and comfortable, and the bathrooms were cleaned regularly. They even have alcohol spray to sanitize the seat. Bring your own flip-flops, or rent or buy a pair there. Self-service laundry is available for 100 NTD to wash and dry. The spot is excellent, next to the MRT, a park, and a night market. Definitely worth the price.

Uno Backpackers is a real find in Kaohsiung. The location is hard to beat, right by the MRT Airport Line and Central Park. Convenience stores are open around the clock nearby, along with McDonald’s and a trendy night market behind the building. The staff were incredibly polite and helpful. There’s a full kitchen, a cozy lounge, laundry, and a fast elevator. Rooms were spotless and had powerful AC. I loved the bathroom too, with a bidet and a shower heater I wanted to pack in my suitcase! Make time for the rooftop, the panorama over Central Park is stunning. I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Kaohsiung, and I'll definitely be back.

I stayed in shared rooms. The rooms were quiet, the sheets clean, and the mattress comfortable. There was plenty of clean common space to hang out in, the location was okay, and the employees were competent. Sometimes the shared bathroom and common area smelled awful, like death. I don't know why, since they cleaned the bathroom with bleach and had the fans on. The rooms and common areas were also very cold, and you couldn't adjust the temperature. I wondered if they were trying to save money by not turning on the heat.

Getting here from the HSR/TRA is convenient, with lots of food nearby. A bus across the road goes straight to the Pier, and there are YouBike stands all around. The rooms were clean but compact. The upper bunk had a sturdy staircase, not a flimsy one. I just wish there were proper charging ports. No other issues.
