Aloha Hotel Keelung

It was inexpensive and well located, but the quality was poor. The air conditioner was extremely loud, as you can hear in the video recorded right beside our room. Don't stay here if getting a decent night's sleep matters to you.

The rooms are tiny and need a complete renovation, and the property looks nothing like the photos. It's very old and dated. Security also felt lacking: the doors are weak and still use keys, unlike what I'd expect at a modern hotel. If feeling safe is important to you, I'd avoid this place.

The location is hard to beat, beside a beautiful temple and the night market, close to bus stops, and only a short walk from the train station. Staff were pleasant and very helpful. The rooms need major renovation, though they didn't seem dirty. The air conditioning worked perfectly on night one, then stopped working the next night.

I had a very bad experience with my Agoda booking. I reserved at 220 NTD, then a week later the hotel said the listed price had been a mistake and changed it to 1600 NTD per night, an eightfold jump. Who would book a two-star hotel outside Taipei City for 1600 NTD a night? If the rate was wrong, they shouldn't automatically change it and charge the customer. The booking should be cancelled by default so the customer can decide whether to book again.
