Lealea Garden Hotels-Sun Moon Lake-Moon

Breakfast was very good. From the upper-floor rooms, you can see part of the lake.

The location is handy for the jetty and cable car station, and the staff are friendly. But nobody helped with our luggage, apparently because it’s a 3-star hotel. For what the room cost, it felt overpriced compared with other cities and wasn’t worth it to me. The room had cheap, low-grade slippers, mold in the bathroom, and a damaged shower head that didn’t work properly. The floor and desk were worn, the desk had stains, and the walls were scuffed. There were stains and hair on the pillow, which made it feel like it hadn’t been replaced.

Breakfast had a lot of choices, and the service was friendly. The location is good, and the rooms were clean. I liked the hard flooring instead of carpet, and the amenities were good too. The pool, breakfast restaurant, and other services are shared with the other Lealea hotel (the Sun) and Lealea Lealea Resort, a short walk away. In high season, I’d arrive early because parking can be an issue. I’d stay here again.

The breakfast was pretty good, with plenty of variety and some unusual options like edible succulents. The beds were comfortable and the shower was very nice. A few details kept the place from feeling fully professional: water spots on the faucets, just one roll of toilet paper, and old towels that weren’t fluffy. The bigger issue was a strong smoke smell, even in our non-smoking room.
