I spent two nights here solo in the mountain view suite. The staff were very friendly, and breakfast was included, quick and convenient. The room had a great view, with wonderful sunsets. Jiufen Old street is a great place to walk around after dark, once most tourists have left. It’s very close to the iconic A-Mei teahouse, where I got some great photos. I also walked down the mountain trail to the Yin Yang Sea, which was an awesome experience. I’d definitely recommend this hotel for anyone wanting to explore Jiufen for a day or two.

The room had no view, since you need to stay on the other side of town for hotels with Ocean views. Still, the location right in the middle of Old Street couldn’t be better. My solo room was small but very efficient. The staff were courteous, helpful and went out of their way for me. Breakfast was good, and the Illy coffee was fantastic. For a view while you eat, choose a seat looking out onto the street.

The rooms are small and quirky, a bit dated but charming. Mine was at the far end, so it was really quiet. There are no lifts, so expect to carry your luggage up stairs. The people there were amazing and super friendly, and the food was top notch.

I stopped for lunch on a rainy day, and the view felt nice and cosy. The beef noodle soup was very overpriced and not as good as I’d expect. They only take cash.
