The renovation and new management are a major improvement. The bathrooms, lighting, big TV, and view are all better, and I like this part of town. It's close to restaurants and not too far from anywhere. Staff have been friendly and helpful, and I'd recommend it to anyone traveling to new Taipei. I've stayed here for years. It was closed for most of last year for remodeling, reopened in December, and I booked this week because it's near my family.
Good experience 😍 Lily gave great service.
My room was quite noisy. Some kind of mechanical equipment on the rooftop made loud sounds now and then, and loose metal pipes rattled every so often too.
I stayed for two days over Chinese New Year, one night in room 301x and the other in room 201x. The soundproofing seemed average to me. Motorcycles outside were very loud, and the guests next door were noisy too. I don't know if my hearing is just sensitive, but I could hear a couple having sex as soon as I entered the room. I remembered the previous hotel having free basement parking. Now it costs 40 yuan per hour, or 300 yuan for a full day without moving the car. If you take the car out and return, there's no guarantee of a space, and the fee is recalculated. Check-in is strict: you can only enter at your booked time, and arriving 10-15 minutes early isn't allowed. Check-out is at 11 am. Even after checking in, guests can't use the downstairs toilet. They just tell you it's not for others. The company rules feel very strict, more than I've ever encountered at a hotel. The room had been cleaned and looked quite tidy. There's a bidet toilet and a TV with quite a few channels, but the TV was broken when I arrived. I told the front desk, but they were always busy and didn't come up to fix it. I was about to tell them not to bother. The toiletries are gone now, though they still provide bath towels, shower gel, and shampoo. The room had two bottles of water, two coffee packets, and a refrigerator. The elevator is still the same small one as before, with room for only four people. There isn't breakfast at the moment. On the first floor there is a coffee machine, small snack and cookie packs, and hand-scooped ice cream. I don't know whether the Taishan branch has stricter rules or whether all guesthouses are like this. There's self-checkout in the lobby, or you can check out at the driveway. I'll see if it is the same next time I stay at a guesthouse in the south. Is this how every guesthouse treats people? Given the price and parking, I think there are plenty of other choices. I know what this guesthouse was like before, but if you just need somewhere to sleep, it's acceptable. Renovated guesthouses are generally clean. That's my impression after two days.
There's a market with food stalls a short walk away, along with some restaurants and convenience stores nearby. You can get to the hotel by bus, on foot, by car, or by bike. I'm not sure if the issue was limited to my room, but the bathroom wasn't clean: there were several hairs in the bathtub, and the floor was still dripping wet. The main problem was the bathroom door. It wouldn't close. If you forced it, the glass might shatter. The panel was clearly larger than the frame, so it couldn't shut properly. I contacted customer service through the front desk, but they didn't seem to understand the problem and thought I just needed to adjust how it closed. The facilities were otherwise like those at other hotels in the resort, but this bathroom door was badly constructed and needs fixing. A bathroom should feel relaxing and private. With a door that won't close, there's physical and mental discomfort, and odors and moisture can get out too. January 2026
