The breakfast was a wonderful surprise, with sausages, tea, boiled eggs, bread, dumplings, oranges, edamame, yogurt, coffee, and juice. It was included with our stay, and I hadn’t expected much. Our room was spotless, the beds were super comfortable, and the balcony had a lovely view. We also found English movie channels like HBO and Fox on the TV at night. Highly recommend.

The location was convenient and easy to walk around, and the balconies had lovely ocean views. But the owner’s behavior took away from the stay. We rented the whole place for our group, yet were given odd restrictions, including being told not to close the curtains at night. The next morning, large groups of tourists came into the living room to eat breakfast, so we had no privacy. When we raised this with the owner, she blamed it all on “miscommunication” on our part and wouldn’t acknowledge that the listing was misleading or that she had misunderstood what “entire place” meant. We were only offering suggestions and weren’t asking for anything back, but she seemed to take it as an attack and was a bit rude when we left. I wouldn’t recommend it for large groups. Renting one room might be fine, but the owner was very nit-picky.

Nice host, and the price was good for what you get.

The en-suite room was clean, quiet, and comfortable, and the location was convenient for visiting the small JiuFen town. But it’s a fair distance from the bus stop and train station, so you need a taxi to get in and out. One host was quite unfriendly, contrary to most of the comments. She accused us of opening a fridge we’d been told not to use, even though we didn’t know where it was. She only changed her attitude after we made it clear at checkout that we were unhappy. Luckily this was our first night in Taiwan, because it set the bar so low that every place we stayed afterward was consistently better. I won’t return.
