Spring Spa Hotel

The room was spacious and had an amazing view, and the staff were so friendly and helpful. When my son developed a swollen eye just as we were going to bed, the hotel manager arranged a taxi to the hospital, about 15-20 min away. He came with us and stayed from 11pm until around 2, almost 3am, helping us communicate with the hospital staff and making sure we were okay. We're very thankful, and we'll definitely come back when we visit Taiwan.

We spotted Taiwan Rock Macaques from the window. The location was lovely, the service really nice, and there was a vegetarian breakfast option.

The room and hot spring facilities didn’t live up to the $160 USD per night price. There was dust everywhere, hair on the floor, peeling walls, no hand soap by the sink, and a persistent bad smell in the bathroom. The tub felt lukewarm and seemed to have ordinary tap water, so I’m not sure the hot spring water was genuine or whether it was just marketing. The pool was advertised as closing at 10 PM, but guests couldn’t use the lobby hot spring after 9 PM. With check-in only at 5 PM, that left a 5-9pm window to use it. Staff said there was a notice at check-in, which was frustrating. We booked through Agoda. Check-in at 5 PM was much later than the usual hotel time. I later saw just one older cleaning staff member still working in the next guest room as late as 10 PM, which made the hotel seem understaffed. Given the price and the issues, the stay was disappointing, and I feel there must be better options in this range that deliver what they promise.

Traffic noise kept me awake, and it seemed like the window wasn’t sealed well enough to block it. The bed was very firm, and a few pillows smelled strongly of body odor or something similar, which made me question the general cleanliness.
