Love Jiufen Homestay

One star for Jiufen Old Street. The parking outside costs a lot and comes with time limits, and I can't understand why they didn't arrange a partner parking option. The staff's attitude was really poor. Inside, the floorboards were taped and sank underfoot, and rain left the house like a swimming pool. There weren't enough beds for our group, so some of us nearly had to sleep on the floor. We pretty much wound up staying at the Piao Piao River. I think the owner means well, but running a guesthouse takes more than good intentions; it takes action.

Getting around with lots of bags is awkward here. Parking is both hard to find and expensive, and from the lot there's still a walk plus stairs. The upside is that Jiufen Old Street is actually quite close. It seems better suited to backpackers traveling light.

Please don't spend your money staying here. The place felt damp and stuffy, with wet floors and a terrible smell. They didn't offer a full set of amenities, the service was nonexistent, and there's nowhere to park. I really wouldn't recommend going.

Backpacker-friendly prices, and the market is quite nearby. I'd recommend it!
