The room, the house, and the host were all great.

I normally leave negative reviews, but this is the only guesthouse I’ve rated positively. The owner is so welcoming, which feels rare these days, and staying here feels like being at home. There’s nothing super luxurious about it, but I felt really comfortable.

I was here for work and found the room neat and clean. The price was reasonable, too.

No WiFi here, though they seem to want guests to enjoy a break from the hustle and bustle. The bed felt hard, and the bathroom water pressure was weak. For what you pay at Taiwanese B&Bs, the place felt more like a hostel.

The breakfast alone was such a spread: soy milk, black tea, pancakes with honey and chocolate sauce, boiled eggs, bananas, and coffee jelly. It was served at Teacher Huang's kindergarten, about a three-minute walk away. I was so moved seeing all that food I nearly cried. Teacher Huang was just the right amount of friendly. She'd talk when you wanted company without pestering you, and our conversations were really rewarding. I laughed at a comment saying her enthusiasm covers the flaws. Maybe it does, but I barely noticed the peeling paint and other things people mentioned. The flaws didn't take away from the place's beauty. She even generously gave me a book I loved, and she's an angel in my life. I came across this guesthouse by chance. After hearing about my situation, Teacher Huang kindly let me stay two nights for a low price, and I'm so grateful. The three-story Greek-style building is beautiful. I heard the owner designed it with his four children, which is impressive. The first floor has a kitchen, shared dishes and utensils, a water dispenser, a fridge, and lots of tables. The rooms are on the second and third floors. The rooftop was lovely for stargazing. I took my own picnic mat up and lay there alone at night. The village gets very quiet after 8 pm, with no tall buildings nearby and no light pollution apart from the moon. It felt so peaceful. Each room has its own bathroom, which was great. There were two books in my room, one about the guesthouse and Teacher Huang's family that was hilarious XD, and a picture book by the teacher herself that I could take home if I wanted. There was a slight musty smell when I first checked in. I sprayed some essential oils I brought, and the smell went away. The next day it was gone even without spraying, so I guess it was because of the rain. Maybe there'd be no smell when it hasn't rained. The bed was very soft, and I loved the thick comforter that smelled like sunshine. 😍 This art village and guesthouse are right by the sea, with mountains beyond. Such a nice place to relax with both mountains and sea ❤️. They’re very friendly to hikers, who can get an even cheaper stay!
