The hostel manager was considerate and attentive, and the minimalist rooms were practical. The beds are on the firm side, which suited me perfectly, and I had my best nights here. It's also extremely convenient, right by the station and buses that cover almost all of northeastern Taiwan.

For a budget stay, Ruifang Yi Hostel is a good option: simple, clean, and comfortable. The woman running it was friendly and very helpful. It's also a short, direct walk from the station, which makes the location really convenient.

This hostel has a homey feel, and the hosts were lovely. Before I left, they made me a Christmas card. I think her name was Lola? It rained the whole time I was there, and she suggested a few places to visit. A few practical things: the bed overhead is quite low, so I bumped my head a few times. The bathroom can't be used after 11pm. They provide a shoe dryer and toothpaste, but no towel. There's no lift or heater, so it can get quite cold at year end. The location is good for getting around: 9 fen and 10 fen are about 20 minutes away. There's a Family Mart opposite, plus a few breakfast shops and a hair salon nearby.

Everything was really new and well cleaned. The hostel had only been open for half a year. The manager was very polite and kind, and when I asked to check out early, he let me have breakfast early too.

The location is hard to beat, close to the train station. Our room was neat and clean, with AC and lots of IKEA furniture. The staff were really friendly and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Highly recommend it.
