Surreal Motel - Lujhou Branch

We chose this motel because other travelers highly recommended it for being close to the international airport. Our room wasn't ready at the 7 pm check-in time shown on Agoda. We finally got in around 8, and it clearly smelled as if smokers had been in it. When we asked for a non-smoking room, the desk clerk said it was “supposed to be non-smoking,” which didn't solve the problem. They suggested opening the window, but it had no screen, so mosquitoes, street noise, and a lack of privacy were concerns. They also suggested lowering the A/C. We were meeting friends before heading to the airport and asked if they could leave their car at the motel briefly. Staff said there was no space. I also asked for two black coffees while discussing the room, but was told coffee costs extra and only one black coffee is allowed per room. We got breakfast vouchers saying breakfast started at 6, then the clerk pointed out that since it was Monday, the vouchers wouldn't be usable until 10 am. If you smoke, don't mind what's described online on Agoda, and aren't concerned about coffee, breakfast, or having to open a window to mosquitoes and people looking in, this might be a treat.
