The Fisher Hotel

The reception staff made us feel right at home, and their service was out of this world. We could easily walk to the area's main attractions, too. We stayed three nights. The room was clean, comfortable, and just the right size. Great value, and an excellent stay.

There are plenty of places to eat within about a 10-minute walk, so we didn't try breakfast. The LRT, bus stop, ubike, and convenience stores are all within a five-minute walk. Keep in mind that traffic in the area may increase once the Danjiang bridge is finished. Our room was clean, with fresh sheets, pillows, and towels, and it had all the basic hotel essentials.

We had a relaxing stay in a quiet, clean room with nice decor and a good selection of TV channels. Coffee, tea, and snacks were free in both the lobby and the room, and there was an extra blanket in the wardrobe. The walk to the pier and beach was nice, too. The shower pressure was good, though we had to wait for hot water. The toilet seat was extremely cold, unlike anything I've experienced before, so bring your own slippers. The carpet in the room was fine. I wish we could have stayed longer.

The price felt ridiculous for a room this uncomfortable. We booked a cheaper room, but the furniture looked like a mismatched collection of very old pieces from different homes, and it didn't fit the space well. The lobby also smelled like stale, old popcorn, which I didn't like. There was a dampness problem in the room, with a very full dehumidifier inside. I think the whole floor had moisture issues because there were dehumidifiers in the hallways too. It was a cool, windy winter night, and the heater never worked even though we turned it on with the settings set correctly. We called the front desk, but they didn't seem to understand. The heating and cooling system seemed broken and only had fan mode, so we were cold all night. The room had a faint old-cigarette smell, though I couldn't tell where it came from. Maybe it was from the vent, if the central air was connected to a smoking room or something. I won't stay at this hotel again in the area.
