It felt like going over to my grandma’s house. The owner happily sang with us, and the eldest son kept an eye on us while we grilled, bringing homemade scallion and salt sauce for dipping. Once we were done, he even brought out pomelo to cleanse our palates. The grill area was seriously well set up, with a big grill and a separate one for shrimp, and there was no cleaning fee. On checkout day, some of our group were heading to swim at Sun Moon Lake. The eldest son let the rest of us wait comfortably in the air-conditioned living room without charging us. The house was very clean, the air conditioning worked great, we could sing, and the dog was adorable. Such a warm, welcoming place. I highly recommend it! 🫶🏻

Our friends went swimming at Sun Moon Lake and came back after checkout time, while the rest of us had nowhere to rest. The landlady kindly let us wait in the guesthouse living room, and even said we could use the air conditioning and electric fan. She was very generous and kind.

We reserved the entire building at the end of February for a stay at the beginning of May, transferred the deposit, and called to make sure everything was set. Then the day before leaving, we called to confirm the room type and were told another group had booked the whole building, supposedly before us. I can’t imagine how bad it would’ve been if we hadn’t checked and our group had cycled all the way from Kaohsiung only to find there was no room. The owner then found us some two-star guesthouse near Sun Moon Lake with loads of negative reviews and offered to cover NT$2,000 of the price difference. Who’d want to stay somewhere with so many bad reviews? The accommodation mess upset my friends that night. We searched until 11 or 12 pm before finally finding somewhere, then managed to leave smoothly the next day. If you’re planning to stay here, confirm the booking several times, including a few days before departure. Otherwise, you could arrive to find nowhere to stay, and in the worst case, lose your friends.
