We arrived by car at 7pm and were welcomed by a very friendly host, who helped park our car in the dedicated lot. The drive here is winding and intense. If you’re not comfortable on mountain roads, I’d suggest public transport. The host patiently and enthusiastically answered our questions, explained nearby attractions like qingjing farm and hehuanshan, and gave us recommendations. He also went over what to do and avoid at the guesthouse. Breakfast is free and gets brought to your room at 7:30am. Our quad bedroom had a nice mountain view, too. At night, the host switches off the second-floor common area lights, so we could see the stars. Behind the accommodation there’s also an unobstructed sunset view. The area is rural, so don’t expect city-style activities. Two nights were enough for us to visit the hehuanshan snow, qingjing farm, see the sunset, and stargaze. For the price, it was an amazing stay, with plenty to do nearby and at the accommodation. I’d highly recommend it if you’re planning to visit qingjing farm or hehuanshan.

I wouldn’t recommend staying here. The room was very basic, and we were unlucky to get one without a view. I think only two rooms, for four people, have a view, so it doesn’t seem worth booking unless the owner can guarantee you a view room. Being on a hill with no view felt like a waste of time and money. After 9pm, all the outdoor lights go off, leaving the area very dark, scary, and dangerous. It’s close to Qingjing farm, about a five to ten minute walk, but there are lots of stairs. If your kids can walk, don’t bring a stroller. Otherwise you’ll have to carry the stroller and baby together, which is very difficult. The owner didn’t warn us, and we had a hard time getting around. There are many other places with nice views at similar prices. We won’t come back.

The bed has a heater, and there’s a water heater in the bathroom, plus towels and toiletries. You’ll also find coffee and a kettle, but bring snacks since the choices here are limited. For dinner they only have hotpot, at NT250, so buy other food in advance if you need it. There’s an old dog on the property. Don’t try to touch it, as it might be aggressive. This family-run B&B, also called Bokelai or maybe Berkeley, is the closest to Cingjing Farm. From the Cingjing Grassland gate, turn right onto the street; the nearest bus stop is Cingjing Grassland, and you can walk from there. There’s ample parking and only a short uphill walk. The owners are very hands-on and helpful, though they don’t speak English, so a translator app makes communication easier. They give tips for exploring the farm, and you can book a Hehuanshan stargazer or sunrise tour for NT550 (sunrise). There aren’t other hotels, homes, or stores nearby, so without a car you can’t get around much. The walk from the highway to the BnB is unlit and very dark at night. I walked it at 4:30am for the sunrise tour. There’s a mountain view, though not every room faces it, and you can go around the back to watch the sunset. The rooms are large, so it works well for families or groups. It isn’t an Instagrammable or picturesque place; if that’s what you’re after, stay somewhere else. But if you don’t have a car and want to be near the farm, it’s a good choice. For the owner: putting the English B&B name near the Cingjing Farm entrance would make it easier to find. There’s a sign now, but it’s in Chinese characters.

The bus stop and QingJing farm are right next to the home stay. Our room faced the mountains, and the view was super nice. There’s a nice sunset view too, and depending on the weather you can see stars from the rooftop.

The owner was very friendly, helpful, and kind. The rooms were in good shape, though some of the toilets could use a little work. There’s an amazing mountain view, and you can see lots of stars at night. Room service and the food were great, too.
