Lakeshore Hotel Suao

Breakfast was a real highlight, with a delicious spread and many award-winning dishes. My room also had a double hot and cold spring, which made the stay feel relaxing and unique. The staff were attentive, genuinely service-minded, and friendly. They thoughtfully upgraded me to a room with two separate beds, adding to the comfort. The view was breathtaking too. Everything exceeded my expectations. I had a wonderful stay at this hotel in Suao, and highly recommend it to anyone visiting.

The room, food, and service were all great. One staff member, who I believe works at the concierge, went out of his way to make me feel welcome. His warm, thoughtful service really stood out. His name is Huang Shunlan. I came from Chiayi by Taiwan Rail and used the local bus in Su’ao. Getting around is convenient, but check the bus schedule ahead of time. I booked through Trip.com without realizing the room faced the street, so I paid an extra TWD 400 per night to upgrade to a mountain view. It was definitely worth it.

The balcony was a nice bonus, though it gets so windy that the couches were a bit dirty. They clearly hadn’t been cleaned by staff, though maybe I’m being picky. Apart from that, the room was reasonably neat. The hot and cold springs beside each other, with the shower right next to them, made for a relaxing soak. Breakfast was great, with local specialties consistent with the rest of the group. I’d consider coming back.

The beds and pillows were excellent, so at least I slept well. Rooms are OK, but stayed humid despite the A/C. The bathroom setup is impractical for a family unless you’re comfortable being naked around each other. The buffet breakfast is generous and generally good, though a bit pretentious for no real reason. Su'ao itself isn’t the most interesting place, especially at night. If you have a car or another independent way to get around, you can head elsewhere for dining instead of eating at the hotel.
