Aroma Chew Hotel

If you’re in Taichung for medical reasons, the location is convenient. On weekends, though, there’s a lot of traffic noise because the hotel is right beside a parking garage. I also felt the fruit store in the lobby took up a lot of the front desk staff’s attention and time. I had requested and received confirmation for a high-floor room, but was put on the 3rd floor instead. The laundry facility was out of order, and it wasn’t clear when service would resume. There are many steps between the entrance and the elevator, so the hotel isn’t encouraging for wheelchair users. No staff are on site from 11:00 pm to 7:00 am, which felt like an old-fashioned convenience store. If you need service around the clock, this won’t suit you.

The room was comfortable, with a large TV, soft mattress, and warm shower, and I liked the warm, rich colors. There’s a 24h cafeteria inbred building where you can get free coffee, bottled water, juice, and snacks. The kids’ play area is small but thoughtfully put together, and my child loved it. The place was clean and well located, near lots of department stores, shops, and night markets. What really impressed me was the dedicated staff. They were helpful, attentive, and always willing to go a little further to make the stay more enjoyable. I can’t wait to return to Taichung and stay there again.

Great location and service, and they give you free fruit at check-in. The atmosphere is lovely, and the toilet is very clean, with an automatic heated seat. The room is a bit small, if that bothers you.

We left my coat in the room at checkout, and the staff tracked me down and sent it to me right away at no cost. I was really impressed by their honesty, efficiency, and the extra effort. After dealing with some big players who just follow the rules, this alone deserves five stars. The hotel isn’t close to Taichung town center, but there’s a large shopping center right behind it, with plenty of food and shopping options.
