Hotel Dion

The location is unbeatable, close to Maple Garden and the expensive Qi-qi area. My mother stayed five nights, and we paid the full amount in cash after check-in. Unfortunately, the room was humid and not in great condition, as the pictures show. Even the air conditioning didn’t help, so I brought my own Panasonic dehumidifier to get the humidity below 60% and make it comfortable for sleeping. After two nights, the power went out and staff started diesel generators in the basement. Carbon monoxide from the generators rose to the second floor and filled the corridor. My mother called because her room was beginning to smell like smoke. My girlfriend and I came over late that evening to assess things and talk to management. The receptionist was nice and respectful, but couldn’t do anything. We all went up the stairs to the room, then had to turn back because the smoke was so thick. Even the receptionist couldn’t breathe properly. We tried to find a solution, but turning off the generators wasn’t an option, and the hotel was apparently fully booked, so we couldn’t get another room. The hotel could do nothing but let it be. I was shocked. My mother couldn’t stay or sleep with smoke filling her room, so we took her home and asked for a refund because of this crazy situation. The next day, a manager said they could take only 1500NT$ off as compensation. My mother had paid more than 12,500NT$ for the whole stay, and the manager wouldn’t cancel the remaining nights or give any more money back. Because of this terrible customer service, we booked another hotel, Marriot Fairfield, and will never return. The fear of carbon monoxide poisoning while sleeping is life threatening, absolutely unacceptable, and something hotel management shouldn’t ignore.

The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from a night market, and the Asian-style breakfast buffet was good. Our van was too large for the garage, but they arranged complimentary parking at a nearby lot. The rooms were comfortable.

I’ve been coming back for years, again and again. The staff are lovely, the location is amazing, and the rooms feel cozy.

Breakfast was good, the bed was comfortable, and the friendly staff were nice. The room and bathroom were clean.
