Futen Villa

I especially enjoyed the rice orridge at breakfast. The gardens were peaceful, and the location was quiet and easy to find. Such a beautiful building!

The breakfast was incredibly unappetizing, and I wouldn't consider coming back. Getting here meant a daunting drive on a mountain road because the location is so remote. Soundproofing is awful, so even whispers carry through the space. There are almost no amenities or decorations.

The savory congee at breakfast was really good. Just a shame I didn't take a photo and hadn't brought my phone. The rooms were comfortable and had both heating and air conditioning, and the surroundings were pleasant. If you have enough people, I'd suggest booking the whole place. Using the kitchen costs extra, though. Other than going into town to buy food, nearby restaurants close pretty early, so plan ahead to order and pick up what you need.

We arrived on a Wednesday evening in mid-January with our six-month-old baby and Corgi. The young guesthouse owner was very talkative, and they thoughtfully provided a hot breakfast. With black coffee and the lovely scenery, it made for a wonderful stay. We went up the mountain after dinner and had such a peaceful night under the stars in the Miaoli mountains. Having a baby and a dog meant we had extra needs, and the guesthouse kindly supplied a bathtub and high chair, which let us relax for a bit. We're grateful for the hospitality and hope to come back to enjoy Miaoli and Sanyi again.
