Staying in the old navy dormitory beside the lighthouse was lovely. I'd strongly suggest avoiding a visit during the northeast monsoon. The wind was wild, and I was almost blown away.

It's peaceful near Gaomei Wetland, and there are two coffee shops. The place sits about 30 kilometers from the center of Taichung, and not many people seem to stay here, so I can imagine it feeling a little lonely. If you're here to catch the sunset, staying here is fine. The price is above the Taichung average.

The lighthouse wasn't functioning, and it was beside a very large, colorful kindergarten. It was still under renovation through the end of November 2023. Maybe we'll visit again at the end of the year to get a better idea of what the lighthouse is like.
