The design throughout Intercontinental Taichung is gorgeous and very photogenic, with a modern luxury feel. We also enjoyed Club Intercontinental: the associates there were friendly, the food and drink spread was excellent, especially the pastries and bread, and it never felt crowded. Our sleep and shower were both wonderful, and housekeeping was excellent. Still, for such a high price, the stay was just okay compared with other luxury IHG properties we’ve visited around the world. We booked a Midtown suite but got a smaller unit with an unusual layout, including a very small living room, and it looked quite different from the suite on the hotel website. It was on a low floor facing a construction site. We could have asked to move, but we were on holiday and spent much of our time out, so we didn’t pursue it. The unit itself was beautifully designed with modern luxury touches, but there are clearly different configurations. We also had an odd experience at breakfast. The buffet restaurant was relatively empty because it was early, but the server insisted we sit beside an occupied table. The tables are close together, so we declined and raised it with the Club lounge associates. It left a sour taste, and we didn’t eat breakfast in that restaurant again. As IHG Diamond Ambassadors, we stayed three nights. The property had seemed like a beautiful, sleek choice for our first trip to Taichung, but those two issues kept the experience from being a five-star stay. 4.1/5 - Dion Chan

We chose this hotel so my parents and I could feel well looked after, and that’s how it turned out. My father has mobility challenges, so we needed a wheelchair-accessible room. From the arrangements before the trip through the stay itself, everything was handled flawlessly. The room was thoughtfully laid out and comfortable, which made a real difference. My parents felt cared for, and so did I. The hotel has a beautiful design and sits in a quiet, relaxing, artsy area that’s still easy to get around from. Staff were warm, attentive, and professional throughout, starting at check-in. I have no complaints. It was a comfortable, reassuring, memorable stay.

The breakfast was one of the best hotel breakfasts I’ve had. Everything was fresh and carefully prepared, and I especially liked the range of Taiwanese dishes, presented in a refined way. It felt thoughtfully put together rather than just a large buffet. The bowling themed bar was another fun touch, giving the hotel a lively, modern feel while keeping its elegance. The room’s interior and color palette were consistent and calming, modern and luxurious without being flashy. The whole property is beautifully designed. Check-in was smooth, and the front desk team made me comfortable right away. Service by phone was quick and efficient, with real warmth and care. It felt personal rather than scripted. At checkout, the entrance staff’s smiles and sincere goodbye left a lovely final impression. My recent stay at InterContinental Taichung was one of my most impressive hotel experiences in Taiwan. The service felt thoughtful and professional without being stiff. The hotel brings together modern luxury, considered design, and heartfelt hospitality, and I’d absolutely stay again. Room 711

The room was cleaned daily and the service was good. It’s conveniently across from a park and near a mall. Breakfast was the highlight: not many international choices, but the Taiwanese options were excellent, with fresh juice, good coffee, and well-made drinks. The bed was okay, though it dipped a little at the edges, and the lighting had few settings and felt a bit odd.

What a cool, brand-new place to stay. The hotel has great facilities all around, including restaurants, a bar, a pool, and a gym. The classic double room is very good value. Aron at the bar is an expert mixologist, and the whole team is super nice and experienced. Best hotel for a business trip 🙏
