Taichung Amour Hotel

Quiet motel with easy access and a great location. Really good for the price, and I didn't hear outside noise.

Don't leave anything valuable in your room. I left something very valuable behind, and staff said the cleaners hadn't found it. I know cleaners are always the first people in the room before the next guest, so I can only conclude that they kept it. Despicable. Once I'd checked out, staff seemed to have no interest in helping and ignored my messages. The rooms were also moldy and had insects, but I don't want to spend more time on this place. Leave nothing behind that matters to you, or it may end up in the cleaners' pockets.

I booked a single room for three nights, then a separate double room for another three. The first room looked badly worn, nothing like the online photos, and the floor had hair and dirt, as if it hadn't been cleaned. There was no shower curtain, so the bathroom floor got soaked, and the WiFi was too weak to check email. The walls were thin enough that I heard the neighboring room's shower and A/C. A loud machine noise at night left me barely sleeping, so I canceled the second booking. The worst part happened on the third night. When I returned, I saw footprints on the floor, though I hadn't requested cleaning and the room didn't look tidied. The front desk initially told me nobody would enter without a request. I checked the prints and they weren't mine, and they led toward my luggage. Staff came up, took photos, and said they'd ask the morning staff. They moved me to another room, but I was scared and asked them to check CCTV. It showed a male staff member entering my room. He said he'd gone into the wrong room. Thankfully I wasn't there and my luggage was locked. Nothing seemed to be missing, but it was still awful, and I had a restless night. I asked for a refund and received most of it. I wanted to post this on Google because Agoda seemed to hide bad reviews. I hope people read this before booking.

I liked the hotel's theme and style, and the service was good. The room equipment was good too, but for this price the rooms need updating. The walls need repairs and repainting, and the bathroom windows were grimy, with dirt and mold in several ceiling corners.
