A warning for anyone considering a fourth-floor room: the room was much smaller than the booking photos suggested. The sink’s water flow kept changing, and using the faucet came with a very loud motor sound. Around 1 a.m., I also heard a heavy, continuous thumping and booming noise that went on for up to two hours, possibly from other residents showering or using water. It made falling asleep hard, so I wouldn’t recommend it to light sleepers.

The comfortable bed made a big difference, and my daughters loved having a bath. I’d asked about bringing my two girls on a short Tainan trip and whether a double room would cost extra. The owner asked their ages, including my youngest’s age of 6, and said the double-room rate was fine. Since we needed a bathtub, she offered us a quad room at a better price, which also gave us more room to sleep. She kindly let us drop off our bags early, and said we could relax in the air conditioning if the room was ready. The whole arrangement was very convenient and pleasant. Older houses can have small facility flaws, and I see that as part of the experience. I also came across some uncomfortable conversations in earlier posts while writing this, but I wasn’t involved, so I can’t speak to those issues. From my own stay, things went well. Running a guesthouse or any service business isn’t easy, and I think some problems can come down to communication. Good communication can make it a positive experience for both sides. It’s small and lovely, and I thought it was good value. I’d recommend it to anyone considering a guesthouse. 😊

The price felt reasonable, and there’s a 7-Eleven nearby. In the evening, we tried “Shanghao Roasted and Braised Dishes” and thought it was so delicious, though on Saturday at rush hour the wait can be an hour or two. The place itself was quiet, the bathroom had nice natural light, and I slept well with the comfortable pillows and thick comforter I like. Blackout curtains kept the morning light from waking me. Water pressure was good, and the official account replied quickly. On the fourth floor, I had to set the air conditioning to high to feel cool.

The owner was really friendly and attentive, and the room was bright, airy, clean, and comfortable. There was also a balcony and a huge bathtub. I highly recommend staying here!
