Hotel Tainan

There’s no parking at the hotel itself, so we had to use a separate nearby building, which was inconvenient with our luggage. The rooms were clean, cozy, and well kept, and the service was excellent. We also enjoyed the complimentary cakes each night.

We stayed for two days, and I can’t recommend this place. Go somewhere else. A big cockroach was climbing the wall in the kids area where they wanted to keep our luggage. We pointed it out, but the staff did nothing. One pillow had what looked like fresh blood stains, despite being in a supposedly clean bed. The beds were as stiff as the floor, and the pillows gave very little support. After we went out exploring on the first day, we came back to find the rooms only half cleaned. My sweatpants were missing, and after searching everywhere, I couldn’t find them. At reception they said they’d ask the cleaning team the next day, which was also when we had to check out. The photos and online reviews had made the hotel look decent, but this was the only stay I’ll ever need here.

It’s very clean, the staff are friendly, and breakfast is okay. The design is simple, with no pool or gym, which may be why it’s a little cheaper than nearby hotels. The location is very good.

The room was EUR 162 per night, though I understand prices were higher than the standard EUR 40 because of Chinese New Year and the Tainan Pokemon event. The standards still felt very low and unsafe, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to foreigners. I asked the manager to check the CCTV, but he said he couldn’t. He said he’d decide everything in 15 minutes, though I think it was only a few minutes. He had to prove what he said I had done to him and my wife. He threatened my wife by knocking on our room door while she was showering and I was naked. We had an internal phone, so he could have called, or waited until she was dressed. Instead, he knocked three times, according to my wife, and she was so frightened that we opened the door. He said, “I open the door,” as if he expected appreciation for opening it. Very strange.
