Lai Jia

I was there for a worthwhile, relaxing week, from August 25th to 29th, in double room 301 on the 3rd floor. My child was attending a camp, and the area made everything really convenient. The owner was laid-back, and the price was great value. We visited Tainan's local night markets four days in a row, and renting electric scooters through WeMo/ubike was easy. Garden Night Market is also within walking distance. This is a very affordable B&B, so I was happy with the basics: it was clean enough, had hot water and air conditioning, the bed was comfortable, there was a balcony, and we could use the common areas. Customer service was prompt and friendly. The opening of Shin Kong Mitsukoshi happened to coincide with our stay, which made everything feel perfect. Thank you, Tainan! I’m writing this to help give the place a better rating. I almost let its 3.9 score put me off, but I’m glad I booked. It’s a good fit for families and budget travelers, as well as solo trips, vacations, or business stays. I highly recommend it. I’ve attached photos and videos from the morning of the fifth day, before check-out.

There are lots of places to eat nearby, including Shin Kong Mitsukoshi and Garden Night Market, plus shops and food stalls right in front of the guesthouse. The owner was friendly and quick to respond, and the price was reasonable, without the wild fluctuations you see on some booking platforms. I felt at ease throughout the stay and highly recommend Lai-Jia Guesthouse. The rooms were clean, tidy, comfortable, and relaxing. You can hear some traffic near the window, as other reviews mention, but the owner provides earplugs in the shared area on the third floor. I used them and slept very well; the noise was minimal. Street parking is available. I wouldn’t recommend the Xiaobei Night Market lot, which costs NT$60 per hour or up to NT$180 per day, and recalculates after midnight. That makes it less cost-effective. It’s an external parking issue, though, and I don’t think it’s reasonable to give the guesthouse a bad review over it.

Room 401 for four people is huge and amazing, and the value for money is excellent. I’d book it again for sure, it’s got no flaws! It’d be even better if the TV had Netflix 🥺🥺

The room was clean and comfortable, and I’d come back next time ❤️ The location is fantastic 👍, right by the new Shin Kong Mitsukoshi department store, with Xiaobei Night Market nearby and Garden Night Market only a short walk away.
