We booked this place for our group of 12 because we wanted private in-room hot springs instead of a public onsen. The water is white sulphur, but I didn’t find the rotten-egg-smelling water did anything good for my skin. The rooms facing the main street have an open view. Some rooms are fairly large, with two king beds and space for four, though I wouldn’t recommend four people sharing one bathroom and toilet. The in-room onsen tiles weren’t clean, and the rooms felt dated. The tatami room was especially old and smaller than the others, so I’d avoid booking it. Service wasn’t good. They could refuse an extra room key, and there was nobody to help with luggage. The elevator is tiny and dated, fits about four people, and wouldn’t close when five got in. Breakfast was really mediocre by today’s standards, so you can skip it. The hotel seems to cater more to tour groups. I spent my two nights wishing I could leave, but cancelling would have meant a penalty. I’d choose a newer hotel next time.

The breakfast was the best spread of our whole trip. There were plenty of hot dishes and drinks, including soy milk, plus yogurt and DIY bubble tea. I especially liked the steamed vegetables, like fresh baby corn with the husks still on. The food was very good. We arrived before the 3pm check-in, so we left our luggage and went for lunch. A Michelin-starred restaurant is right next door, about 15 feet away, and the library and museum are directly across the street. After lunch we walked to the museum, then came back to soak because it was muggy outside. It was a perfect way to relax after a 20-hour flight before heading out again. Xinbei station is just a few minutes away on foot. Definitely worth considering for the private soak and breakfast.

My first time in Beitou was a great experience. The place was clean and in a prime location. We decided to try the spa that day, without an appointment, and they were able to fit us in. Rita gave me a facial and was attentive throughout. I’d recommend it to first-time travelers.

The hand hot spring just outside the hotel was a highlight, and the nearby Japanese pharmacy, FamilyMart, and McDonald’s made the location very convenient. My daughter and I stayed two weeks ago, and this was my third visit. We enjoyed the public bath as well as the private onsen in our room. After soaking, the traditional snacks and hot tea were a lovely touch. I had another wonderful stay.

Beitou’s nearby public springs, Thermal Valley, Carrefour, restaurants, and shops are easy to reach on foot, and Xin Beitou station is a short walk away. My husband and I stayed for two nights for my 40th birthday. The hotel is older, but very well maintained. Our room was spacious, and the bathroom had a huge private onsen tub with hot spring water or regular water, depending on which tap you used. The staff were attentive and excellent. Some spoke English, and the front desk handled our requests quickly. Breakfast was a Chinese-style buffet with lots of choices, and they replenished dishes promptly when they ran low. The one thing I didn’t love was the shower setup. There’s a hose and a stool, but the shower head isn’t mounted high up. We managed, though, and had a wonderful stay.
