CU Hotel Taipei

The air conditioning temperature couldn’t be changed, and when it failed at 2am there was no staff member available to help. There’s no heater in the system either. I was told that because it was cold outside, the indoor temperature would rise by three degrees. It was 16 outside, which made that answer ridiculous. The remote has a HEATER function, but apparently using it makes the room colder. The technician and manager gave conflicting explanations about whether the room would warm up with time. Staff aren’t on duty after 2. Security seemed unaware of the problem, and the manager claimed they knew about it, though security wasn’t sure and told me everyone had gone off work. They have a chain of hotels, and I can’t imagine how badly it’s managed.

It’s right next to ningxia market, and when I stayed 13-14jun2025 everything was in good shape and well maintained. There was even a sink for hand-washing and a wringer I could use for free. A small table in the living room near the kitchen would make it easier to eat there.

Getting around the hotel was easy even though it’s fairly large, since it’s divided into clear sections with a kitchen, lounge, and bathrooms nearby. My room was compact but comfortable, and the bed layout made good use of the space. The bathroom was close, clean, and had warm water. I chose this place because I needed to be somewhere early the next morning. I was a bit unsure about self check-in, but the machine was simple to use, and a staff member gave me my room key afterward. I skipped renting a locker because I wasn’t going out that evening and was leaving very early. I enjoyed my stay and would come back if I’m in the area again.

The staff were friendly, and the location worked well. My room was neat but on the small side. At breakfast, the meat dumplings were labeled vegetarian, which wasn’t accurate. The milk tea and orange juice were much too sweet for me. There wasn’t water at the buffet, though there is a dispenser near the elevator.
